The Wonders of Black Bean Power Bars
Personally, I’ve known about the wonders of black bean power bars for a long time now. I keep a stash frozen in my freezer and whenever we need a quick nutritious meal, I take them out, wrap them in foil and put them in the toaster oven at about 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. If I’m good, I can time it so that they are ready before the kids start saying that they’re hungry! Either way, it keeps all of us happy because I am never caught without wholesome snacks when they are needed and the kids adore them!
Because the burritos are wrapped and so involve more heating up and cooling down time than most other types of food, I don’t recommend doing this with the chicken, pork or carne burritos–because the period of time where the food is in the “danger zone” of warm–but not hot and/or tepid–but not cool–is longer than foodsafe guidelines would recommend. For this reason, I only suggest doing this with the black bean power bar.
We already have some aficionados who do this (they’ve discovered it on their own!). They descend on us with orders of 10-20 black bean power bars! At $3.00 a bar, we feel proud that we are able to provide an affordable, nutrition packed little meal!
