Lori Lait Carries On a Family Tradition

Since our friends at Poppies have outgrown their space in St. Andrew’s Square (they’re moving to the big new Atrium development–hooray for them!). The space at the south end of the St. Andrew’s Square Urban Village has come available.
Who better to inherit their space, than another up and coming florist who is carrying on a family tradition? Lori Lait is a second generation florist. She grew up in the production area of a flower shop (Late Bloomer Florist in Ladysmith). And she is ready to bring her own fresh take to all the skills she learned since childhood.
Lori’s design aesthetic centres around freshness, combined with the brilliance of “exotics” (calla lillies, anthuriums, orchids, ginger) designed in unconventional ways. Her specialties include European hand tied bouquets and elegant arrangements. She only sends her arrangements out in glass containers–as she has developed an “aversion” to plastic.
Lori explained to me that the secret to the freshness that everywhere in her shop is that she buys her flowers herself, directly from the Vancouver auction. In this way, she is able to directly control and ensure the quality of her flowers.
She told me that she’d actually be interested in this space for several years! So, for Lori, this is the fulfillment of a dream.
We are excited about the energy and enthusiasm that she has brought with her and we are looking forward to more of her vibrancy!
