Rev
Rev Artist/Healer
Hernande’z interiors feature Rev’s work a lot! You will see many of his totems in both the Yates St. and the Bay St. locations.
In addition to being wonderful works of art, they also bring gifts of spirit to Hernande’z. The icons/dolls contain herbs, stones and special prayers.
Rev’s dolls have been featured in Art Doll Quarterly (2007) and Rev has had various solo shows in Western Canada. His dolls have been shipped all over the world.
Rev belongs to a long line of Jamaican Shamans and Healers. He was initiated into the tradition in 1993 by his spiritual teacher, Rupert Augustus Smith. The initiation process involved great physical hardship as Rev spent seven days walking 350 miles, being beaten, being confined, and fasting. He says that it took him years to figure out the seven days of initiation processes.
His personal statement:
“My art is the product I produce through the spirit in order to keep the integrity of our tradition. I do not sell spiritual healing. The totems or dolls are healing tools that I make for individuals… these are not used for hexes or other such non sense. I have been taught this tradition of doll making by my grandmother Lillian Jerry and her mother Blancador Forrester…now I am preparing to start a practice to aid those in need of spiritual healing. I can do exorcisms, soul retrievals, spirit animal connections, psychopomp workings, distance healing as well as other traditional shamanic work.”
If you are interested in either healing work or art work, I can only be contacted by email (kofibiz@yahoo.ca) or in the flesh.
