Starfish Glassworks

IMG_0353As many of you know, we first opened on Pandora Ave. where Mole is now. We started with basically nothing, but ganas and chutzpah. It was a white knuckle ride and we really didn’t know if we were going to be able to do it. Within the first month, one of our patrons brought us a gorgeous red glass vase with our logo etched on it.

In many dark times and days of doubt, we would gaze at that vase which seemed as a beacon–holding promise that we really did have a place and that we would succeed!

The people who brought us that vase were from Starfish Glassworks. They used to have an incredible studio at 630 Yates St. Glassworks studio actually gave bypassers and visitors the opportunity to watch the exquisite heating, blowing and twisting of glass into exquisite pieces of art. We were lucky to have the opportunity to see this because not long ago they had to close down. We wish that they were still here (sigh).

We were given this beautiful blown glass bowl just before they closed their doors. We use it as the lower part of the alter for our goddess.
