The Yates St. location features burritos (flour tortillas), huaraches (thick corn tortillas) and tacos (little bites of delicious freshness).

Why “Slow”?

When we moved into the Yates St. location from our old location on View Street, it became obvious that many people had major time constraints. Consequently, we had to divide our menus into “express items” (where we don’t make the tortilla fresh to order) and “slow food” items (where we take the time to make the tortillas).

The “Express” Menu vs. the “Slow Food” Menu

When you order from the “express” menu, we actually prioritize those items. Having said all that, generally people don’t end up waiting very long, regardless of what menu they order off of.

“How Long Will It Take?”

Basically you need to decide if your priority is speed, or having handmade corn tortillas. If you have time constraints and you end up waiting longer than you expect for a handmade corn tortilla, you won’t be able to enjoy it anyway. In this case, you’d be better off to just order a burrito or the Sirena Platter from the Express Menu.

However, regardless of which menu you order from, please do not ask “how long” it will take. We are pretty serious about making promises and we don’t like to put our cashiers in the position of making commitments for the cooks on the line… ultimately how long your food takes is a delicate balance of what you ordered, how busy it is and how many orders are on the line. Having said all this, we haven’t had any murmurs about our food taking a long time in about two years! Regardless, ensure that you “master the Hernande’z Flicker” to ensure that you are communicating your wait time to the Cashier.

EXPRESS MENU

Black Bean Power Bar

Simply black beans, salsa and sour cream. wonderful to bring home for a snack which you can warm up in the oven whenever you want! $3.50

Pork Power Bar

Slow braised pork, salsa and sour cream. $3.50

Cochinita Burrito

Black beans, salsa, sour cream and pork which has been slowly braised until tender. $6.00

Burrito “Clasico”

Black beans, seasoned rice, salsa, sour cream, wild greens…the classic beans and rice combination make a full protein for vegetarians! $6.95

Burrito de Pollo

Black beans, seasoned rice, salsa, sour cream, wild greens and our wonderfully seasoned chicken. $8.95

Burrito de Puerco

Black beans, seasoned rice, salsa, sour cream, wild greens and our rich and flavourful slow braised, pork. $8.95

Burrito de Calabacita

Black beans, basmati rice, salsa, sour cream, wild greens and slow cooked, seasoned zucchini (currently our ultimate burrito for vegetarians!) $8.95

La Sirena Platter

Have you seen the loteria card for “la sirena” yet? this platter is named after our own sirena who created it from her favorite items. It also happens to be quick to make (because there are no tortillas of any kind as part of this platter)! It has rice, beans, seasoned chicken and a small salad. Be sure to ask for cutlery. $8.95

Three (3) fresh, handmade corn tortillas with locally raised, locally raised, naturally grown beef, salsa, chopped onions, cilantro and wedges of lime. $6.00
